It’s winter preventative maintenance time!
Many businesses we deal with have a naturally slower pace over winter. Plan now for spring and summer projects
The beginning of the new financial year is the right time to get your ducks in a row for bigger projects later in the year. If we get everything in place before the fourth quarter rush starts – as it always does – the run up to Christmas will be a lot less stressful. In October and November we have some long weekends and then there’s the Christmas shut down, which are all perfect times for us to come in and take care of larger tasks. You can make big savings buying machinery from China. On the surface that looks like a no-brainer, but did you know that you can expect to spend around 30-40% of those savings once it lands to make it comply with New Zealand’s higher quality standards?
We had a situation recently where a laser guide on a machine from China was so strong it would just about burn a hole in your skin when you waved your hand through the beam. OSH wouldn’ve had a fit! There was no way that was compliant and we had to replace it for a New Zealand approved laser before it could be used. That was an unexpect cost for the buyer that could have easily been avoided if they’d spoken to us before they placed the order. The India Trade Deal
A trade deal with India has been on and off the table for decades and now it’s just about ready to go. That’s fantastic news for us in New Zealand as it will give us access to a highly protected market – which also happens to be the world’s biggest. India’s rapidly emerging middle-class is an extraordinary economic powerhouse, and it’s hungry for New Zealand primary produce. The demand that’s coming our way will be immense. But of course trade is a two-way street and we’re pleased to see that India is exporting some very high-quality precision engineered products too, especially cutting and polishing tools. This is good because traditionally this type of tool came from Spain and Italy who can be – let’s say – a bit tricky to deal with.
