We don’t need to tell you – machinery is expensive – so protecting your investment with a properly planned maintenance schedule makes good business sense. And the better it’s maintained, the better it will perform and the longer it will last before needing costly replacement.
The other thing to consider is that preventative maintenance prevents breakdowns, which never seem to happen at a convenient time. Apart from the cost of repairs, a machine that’s not running is not making you money. On the other hand, with planned maintenance, you can control when it happens, so it better fits in with your workflow.
A case in point was a recent project where maintenance of a bag house filtration system had been over looked for many years. Inevitably, it will fail, leading to contamination of other parts of the factory and also creating a serious health hazard for the workers.
When we were called to investigate the cause of the problem, we found extensive corrosion throughout the system, which will necessitate its full replacement. That was a significant expense that had not been expected. However, the cost and downtime could easily have been avoided if they had an implemented maintenance schedule.
Some simple preventative measures would save the risk of environmental exposure.

Working hand in hand with Modular Ducting Systems
Everything is going to plan with our acquisition of Modular Ducting Systems and we’re now working together as one unit – which was always the plan as there’s so much crossover between our two services. George and the MDS team are joining us at our Rolleston premises, and together we’re looking forward to helping out many more businesses in Canterbury and throughout the South Island.
If you’d like to find out how this can benefit your business please give us a call.

Clint’s back on deck
After a busy three weeks in the Northern Hemisphere, Clint is back at work. He says the highlight of the trip was touching back down in Christchurch, but it was great to spend time with his partner’s family in the UK and have a good look around. The trip was just a reward for her amazing support over the years! On the way home, Bangkok was a real eye-opener. Judging by the relaxed building practices, Clint saw they’ve got a long way to go before reaching New Zealand’s building codes and health and safety standards.
