Ignore the rule of the Five Ps at your peril

You know what they say – and they’re dead right – ‘proper planning prevents poor performance’. And that goes double if you’re running complex industrial machinery.

So even though it might seem like it’s a long way away, now’s not too early to be planning your end-of-year maintenance. Whether you intend to shut down over the Christmas break or get ahead of the rush and do a bit over the Labour and Show long weekends, it pays to call us at BTS Engineering and get your plans in motion now.

Like your machinery, there are a lot of moving parts to consider when you’re planning preventative maintenance – for example, you might need to order parts from overseas, which can come with significant lead times (and sometimes serious delays and even reorders).

So if you want a more relaxing run up to Christmas, it pays to start now.

Other things we can help you with, that also need plenty of proper planning, include moving machinery, general engineering, and machinery repairs. But we do get busy, so it definitely pays to plan on getting in touch sooner rather than later.

We visit all sites all over the South Island. So if you haven’t already give us a call and book us in. Ring BTS Engineering on 0800 885 383 and rest easy.

A lot of the work we do takes not just skill, but also a high level of awareness of the risks that come with working around large industrial machinery.

A lot of our work, whether it’s general engineering, machinery repairs, or planned maintenance, requires working in hazardous, confined spaces. Because we take safety so seriously, we’re very pleased to report that two of our guys have just requalified for their Confined Space Permits.

If you’re not sure if working on any of your plant or machinery requires a Confined Space Permit, please get in touch. We work to standards well above the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Ministry of Health requirements, and have a clear understanding of both the regulations and the risks, and we’ll be able to advise you.

This month, we’re bidding farewell to Cam, who is off to Australia to become a cane toad in Queensland. We’re sad to see you go Cam, but we wish you the very best of luck in your new home. You were a great part of the BTS team, and we’ll all miss you.
